Description
Your day begins in Kairouan, the spiritual capital of Tunisia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the majestic Great Mosque of Kairouan, considered one of the most important Islamic monuments in North Africa, famous for its massive minaret and ancient marble columns brought from Carthage. Continue through the historic medina, where centuries-old streets, artisan workshops, and vibrant colors reveal the city’s living heritage. Here, you will also see the Bir Barouta Well, linked to the legendary founding of the city. The tour continues with a visit to the Raqqada Museum of Islamic Art, showcasing precious manuscripts, ceramics, and architectural artifacts. In the afternoon, the journey takes you to the extraordinary El Jem Roman Amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved ancient arenas in the world. This monumental structure, once home to gladiator battles, still stands as a masterpiece of Roman engineering and a symbol of Tunisia’s Mediterranean legacy. The visit concludes at the adjacent Archaeology Museum, home to an impressive collection of mosaics and artifacts.
